About the Team

We are a like-minded, experienced group of professional educators, executives and managers who are passionate about supporting children’s learning and development. Many of us have worked together before and are excited to reunite to build a truly unique Kindergarten experience for Singaporean and expatriate children and their families.

Kathy
Centre Leader

Kathy is the centre leader at the school. She is an early childhood educator with 18 years of experience in this field in Singapore. She graduated with a Bachelor of Arts in Language and Literature from the University of Tehran and furthered her studies in Early Childhood Education in Singapore, a field that she is deeply passionate about. She has worked with many young children including children with additional needs here in Singapore where she has supported them closely in early intervention and integration into mainstream schools.

As a big advocate for inclusion, she has developed a wealth of experience working with children of diverse needs from various backgrounds, thus familiarizing herself with both local Singapore and international curriculum. Kathy is a proud mother of two girls. She strongly believes in hands-on experiences, play-based, inquiry and interest-based teaching to help children learn holistically. She is committed to supporting children closely in achieving their fullest potential.

FUN FACT: Kathy enjoys doing sports to keep fit. During her free time, she loves listening to music and spending time with her friends too.

Henrietta Casanare

Lead Teacher

Henrietta is a Lead Teacher at the school for almost 6 years now. She holds a Bachelor in Elementary Education and a Certificate in Early Childhood Education.

Henrietta has been teaching in a preschool in the Philippines prior to joining us in 2015. She is sensitive to her student’s learning needs and style and is highly regarded in our school community. Henrietta is goal orientated and works hard to achieve them. This can be seen in her goals for her own students too.

FUN FACT: Henrietta was an active member of the athletic club during her elementary and secondary year’s back in the Philippines. She exceled in the long jump and hurdle relay run. She won a recipient award ” Athlete of the Year!” Henrietta loves to host a run challenge with her children during outdoor time.

Meetu Soni
Lead Teacher

Meetu holds a Masters in Child Development as well as a Master’s Degree in English. Her valuable teaching experience from Thailand, India and Singapore spans over 14 years. As a teacher, Meetu is meticulous and puts the child’s best interest first. Her Hindi club is one of the most popular afterschool activities at the school. She also holds a Masters in Indian classical dance, Kathak.

Meetu has been married for 14 years and is a mother to an adorable daughter, who keeps teaching her new things each day. She is a certified Forest School teacher.

FUN FACT: Meetu is a great cook & likes experimenting with various cuisines. Travelling is what she loves and as and when she travels, she ensures that she picks up local recipes and then cooks those in her unique way!

Alejandra Larrea

Lead Teacher

Ale is Peruvian by birth and Singaporean at heart, is an exemplary product of the International schooling in Singapore. She graduated James Cook University with a Bachelor in Early Childhood Education and had the privilege of experiencing working in Australia as well as various local international schools during her course of study. She is certified Forest School trainer.

Ale enjoys creating fun experiences and activities for her students to engage in learning through play. She also believes in creating a safe and inviting learning environment where her students can be themselves and grow.

FUN FACT: Ale enjoys all things Disney and knows all the Disney songs! Her favourite Disney movie is Princess and the Frog.

Priya Abhay Tattu
Lead Teacher

Priya holds a Bachelor’s Degree in English Literature and has been with us since 2017. Priya’s positive outlook in life is inspiring and her cheerful and kind demeanor makes her well loved by both students and parents. Her belief that “Each student brings their own particular brand of genius” is evident in her classroom teaching practices. Priya is a certified Forest School teacher.

FUN FACT: Priya is an art trailblazer. She loves getting messy. As an adrenaline junkie at heart, she looks forwards to the adventures ahead.

Rati Kishore
Lead Teacher

Rati joined us in 2020 as a Lead Teacher. She was teaching at another one of our preschools prior to joining our Phoenix Park family. Ms Rati holds a Diploma in Early Childhood Care and Education. As a proud and happy mother of two children, she strives to create a conducive and nurturing environment for her students to thrive holistically.

FUN FACT: Rati has a flair for music and singing. She can carry conversations with a Bollywood rendition!

Maha Somu
Lead Teacher

Maha has been a lead teacher and working with us since 2014. Maha holds a Bachelor’s Degree in Psychology from Murdoch University and is currently pursuing her Diploma in Early Childhood from National Institute of Early Childhood Education.

Maha strongly believes that each child is an individual and children need the assurance of being loved. Maha is passionate, approachable, and popular among her students and their parents due to her warm and gentle disposition.

FUN FACT: Maha enjoys cooking and baking. She loves trying various food and loves travelling. She is always curious about the history of countries/cities she has visited. She’s also a bookworm and enjoys a good movie that piques her interest.

Niharika Gupta
Lead Teacher

Niha has 12 years of experience in Early Childhood education and has been working with us since 2017. She holds her Bachelor’s and Master’s degree in Business Administration.

Niha started her first job as a part- time teacher during her college years and she developed the love for teaching and decided to never part with it. She is a proud mother of a little girl and a dedicated wife. She strives to make a difference by teaching tomorrow’s decision makers and feels fortunate to be a part of their lives.

FUN FACT: Niha loves cooking and takes it as a healing therapy. In her free time she loves to try new recipes from around the world.

Sonia Filomena
Lead Teacher

Sonia started as an Assistant Teacher in 2003 and has since developed a love and passion for the field. Sonia holds a Master’s Degree in Preschool Education and has been working with children between the ages of 4 months to 6 years old. She is also a mentor to fellow early childhood trainees who have had their internship with the school.

Sonia is passionate, observant, and dedicated to the well-being of the children under her care and is committed to supporting each child’s learning needs. She strives to stay up-to-date with the current practices and explore the different pedagogy styles of teaching that best suits her students’ needs.

FUN FACT: Not only is Sonia a gifted seamstress for our puppet corners, but she is also a lady with a heart of Gold. Sonia spent one-year volunteering in Mozambique with a Catholic Community, working in an orphanage for young female children and teenagers. That is also where Sonia met the love of her life and embarked on a new adventure here in Singapore. They are now proud parents of a beautiful baby boy.

Er Ting Guan
Team Teacher

Er Ting is the Co-Lead teacher in the Kindergarten class. She holds a Bachelor’s degree in Science and has graduated with a Diploma in Early Childhood Education. She has been working with us for many years.
Er Ting has a warm nature and is caring towards the children.

FUN FACT: Er Ting is extremely talented and creative when it comes to arts and crafts and creates impressive art masterpieces. She has a deep interest and desire for science activities.

Meena Kumarappan
Team Teacher

Meena is the Team Teacher for the Kindy class. She holds a Certificate in Early Childhood Education and has been with us since 2018. She supports activities in the class with excellent organisational skills and is the go-to person when the children need any help or care.

Meena’s calm and loving demeanour makes her a wonderful addition to the team.

FUN FACT: Meena loves to cook and bake. Always trying out new recipes, she enjoys cooking and baking for others.

Anuradha Pasupathi
Team Teacher

Anu holds a Bachelor’s of Science in Chemistry, Bachelor’s of Education and Post Graduate Diploma in Computer Application in India, Tamil Nadu. She also graduated with a Certificate in Early Childhood Education from Nanyang Institute of Management, Singapore. Her foundation of children’s development has been a valuable addition to her team.

Anu’s hobbies and interests includes Music, Playing Carrom, reading book. She enjoys cooking, watching TV and spending time with her two boys aged 13 and 9.

FUN FACT: Anu is a talented and creative artist. Her beautiful masterpieces that reflect the current theme of our curriculum, can be found at the entrance of our school.

Sara Zain
Team Teacher

Sara has been working as team teacher since 2017. She enjoys helping children learn and grow. Her philosophy is that each child is unique in his or her own way!

FUN FACT: In her free time, she likes to go on hiking, long-boarding and surfing to keep fit. She loves to travel and to be with family and friends.

Diyanah M. Said
Team Teacher

Having been with us since 2014, Diyanah is a familiar figure at our school. She supports the class day to day activities with her creative ideas and exceptional organizational skills. Her dedication and initiative to go the extra mile makes her so special to the team. She is well liked by the children due to her cheerful and friendly disposition.

FUN FACT: Diyanah is an adrenaline junkie. She has rock climbed in Krabi and para-sailed in Bali. Her best moments include scuba diving with the exotic sea creatures of the Java Sea!

Ivy Hung
Chinese Teacher

Ivy is an early childhood educator with 10 years of experience in the field. She has a Diploma in Early Childhood Center and Education – Teaching Chinese. She loves to teach and enjoys working with young children.

Ivy believes in fun learning approach and hands-on experiences through observations and interactions with the children. She hopes her students could be comfortable with Chinese pronunciation and tones and could use Chinese in their daily life.

FUN FACT: Ivy enjoys reading and listening to music.

Kanaga Valli
Team Teacher

Kanaga is a Team Teacher at our school. She holds a Diploma in Child Psychology and has taught in both local and international schools for 30 years. She is passionate about teaching and believes in the importance of developing positive relationship with children.

Kanaga takes great effort to create a safe environment and brings a love for learning in the children of her care.

FUN FACT: Kanaga enjoys doing art and is a talented and creative artist. She loves to paint and create new masterpieces.

Gong Chongwen
Chinese Teacher

Chong Wen has more than 20 years of Chinese teaching experience in Singapore, including being the Head of Creative Writing programme at Chengzhu Mandarin Centre. She has previously served as the Head of Chengzhu Mandarin Kindergarten for four years.

Chong Wen loves preschool education and is passionate about her work. She adheres to the educational philosophy of entertaining and teaching students in accordance with their aptitude, focusing on cultivating children’s interest and enthusiasm in learning words, mobilizing children’s enthusiasm in activities, and allowing them to enjoy the joy of learning. She looks forward to taking care and educating children and working with parents to support their growth and development.

FUN FACT: In her spare time, Chong Wen likes reading, singing, she’s also enjoys traveling and happy time with family.
